“Catch them while you can, we can’t imagine them playing such intimate venues for very much longer. Local music never sounded so good or essential – you need The Lockhearts… .” (Mark Pitt - The Rock Pitt)

Short:

Short Description
Hidden away in the cult culture of Australian independent bands is a true, back to basics rock and roll four piece band that is selling out shows, quietly making headlines and slowly creating waves.  Introducing: The Lockhearts – band of brothers, thick as thieves, searching for solace in opium den blues and hard rock swagger whilst wrestling to comprehend 4th dimensional spacetime and cetacean altruism via onstage destruction and cathartic cult melodies.

Long Description
They are loud, destructive and demand to be heard. Pioneers of Americana Doom Fuzz, their pessimist party rock stylings are filthy, sweet and chemically captivating with earworms that burrow deep.

Introducing: The Lockhearts – Hailing from Sydney’s inner west, band of brothers, thick as thieves, searching for solace in opium den blues and hard rock swagger whilst wrestling to comprehend 4th dimensional spacetime and cetacean altruism via onstage destruction, incendiary guitar sounds, mesmerising melodies and bell-bottom sway. They are fronted by Tim Meaco on vocals and guitar, Sam Sheumack on guitar, Jameel Majam on bass and Steve ‘Woodie’ Woodward on drums.

Ideology

Almost as energetic as their stage show is their primal need to keep the party going after they’ve (literally) torn up the stage. Opening their, homes, beds and floors to friends and fans alike they’ve always stuck to the Clash ideal of carrying out ‘frequent acts of indiscriminate philanthropy’. So when lock-out laws kick in, the party continues back at their house where the home-brew and goon flows generously and where there is always space for more and they want you to join the party. They believe music, especially rock music, is about the inclusive notion that draws different people together and all they want to do is spread the 4th dimensional love.

Bragging Rights

– Gigs

The boys are quickly becoming a crowd favourite in the fragile Sydney scene, selling out venues along Oxford Street frequently with incredible live shows and rambunctious energy. They have toured Australia extensively playing over 25 shows across 6 states & territories in just a few months and have sold out back to back shows on home turf.

Sick of the claims of the Sydney music scene dying at the hands of the lockout laws, The Lockhearts embarked on an ambitious task of starting their own mini-festival to help showcase some the best local talent Sydney has on offer. 2 years later they’ve run two largely successful sell out ‘inner-westivals’ cheekily deemed Old Mates Block Party.

Sounds Like:

Guitar driven blues rock, overamped and in the red. The soundtrack to dubious acid trips and crossroads folklore

Influences:

They all grew up listening to The Stones and the Faces and draw a lot from 70s bands like Led Zeppelin, Free & Queen, to more manic modern influences like The Hives and The Bronx.

What can a crowd expect from a show?

All hell breaking loose and riffs out the wazoo

Current Plans:

After a rip-start launch into 2017 with another sold out Old Mates Block Party and spending the better half of 2016 locked in a studio writing and record their debut album, The Lockhearts are keen to get back on stage with a small NSW/ VIC tour planned before embarking on an Aus wide album tour.
